Christopher S. Coleman has dedicated his professional career to helping his clients achieve the best possible results – whatever the situation and whatever the circumstances.
Christopher focuses primarily on serving individual, family and business clients who require assistance with business, commercial and real estate matters. In addition to having owned and operated private businesses, Christopher previously worked in law firms in New York City and upstate New York, where he obtained invaluable experience, knowledge and skill in many areas of law. He primarily represents clients in connection with the sale, purchase, development and leasing of commercial & residential real estate; the formation, sale, purchase, transfer, restructuring and merger of businesses; and advising and representing clients involved in business disputes and all other commercial matters. Such areas of practice include Condominium & Cooperative Law, Mortgages and Loan Agreements, Landlord and Tenant Law (Commercial Evictions), Leasing, Zoning & Planning, Land Use, Sole Proprietorship/Partnership/Corporate/Limited Liability Company Law, Buying and Selling of Businesses, Stock Purchase Agreements, Asset Purchase Agreements, Shareholder (Buy/Sell) Agreements, Licensing, Software Agreements; Employment and Labor, Joint Venture Agreements, Franchises and Franchising, Liquor Licensing & Liability, Municipal Law, Civil and Business Litigation, Loan Workouts, Contract Law, Breach of Contract, Defamation (Libel and Slander), Construction Law & Contracts, Mechanics Liens. He also has extensive experience in other areas of practice, including Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts, Health Care Planning and Powers of Attorney) and Appellate Practice, and in Criminal Defense, having represented many clients in cases ranging from traffic infractions, Driving While Impaired or Intoxicated, Drug and Weapon Offenses, Shoplifting/Larceny/Theft/ Burglary, Family and Assault Offenses, White Collar Offenses to other serious Misdemeanor and Felony Offenses.
Christopher obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law (1990 - with Honors) and a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany (1987 – Dean’s List of Distinguished Students). He is admitted to practice law in all New York State courts, and also the U.S. (Federal) District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Dutchess County Bar Association and Ulster County Bar Association.
